I wanted to recap and remember my weekend ‘cause it was a good one. This week, however, has not been the best so I need to think of something happy!! Because this is supposed to be a happy, random blog!!
Saturday I got up early and drove to my hair salon, Rocco Altobelli’s in Woodbury, to see Kat . Kat is amazing with color and even won an award for her colorist abilities—and consequently a trip to Italy was her prize! So I trust her with my hair like I trust her with my life. Plus, she is funny and has great dating disaster stories. It was early so I wore two pigtails, a baseball hat and sunglasses. It was a look I kind of copied from Debra Messing in a scene from “Starter Wife”. She wore a lot of cute things like that. ("Starter Wife" was a great miniseries movie on the USA network that was on every Thursday in June. If you missed it, hopefully they will rerun it because it was really good!)
I had a copy of a celebrity hairstyle magazine with a picture of Maria Menounas—in this picture her hair was chocolate brown with copper highlights. I wanted this look! (See picture below--this is similar, but not exactly the one I took to the salon.)

After my hair was all pretty and highlighted and blown out and curled, I drove to Edina to meet two of my girlfriends at Cheesecake Factory. Joanie and Gayle and I used to all work at Flowers By Bachmans ages ago. They are my oldest friends at age 68 and 72 respectively. But I like having friends who run the gamut from 20 to 72. I had the macaroni & cheese which was made with olive oil, and I also had 2 glasses of Bonny Doon Riesling. (No cheesecake though--I made up for that later with dessert at Olive Garden the next day!)
From there I flew off to Beaujo's in the older part of Edina at 50th and France where I met one of my best friends, Donna, for another glass of wine. We shopped for about two seconds at Ann Taylor Loft before I had to hurry home. My other friend, Jodan, works there but we barely got to say “hello” to her because she was so busy.
My husband was waiting at home, bored without me of course, after his golf game ended!! That evening we ended up going out for Mexican at La Fiesta in Hudson, but by then I was all “wined” out and did not even have a margarita. I ordered a Cherry Coke instead and barely touched my shrimp enchilada. It was too hot to eat. I think we hit 97 degrees. That zapped my appetite.
The next day, Sunday, we had planned on going bike riding on the Red Cedar Trail which I discovered over the 4th, but again it was too hot and then in the middle of the afternoon the skies opened up and it poured and thundered. Perfect day to snuggle up in bed and watch TV. I had a lot of episodes of “Bridezillas” and “Platinum Weddings” on TiVo. But before that, we ran our normal Sunday errands of Target and getting groceries at Kowalskis. We had lunch at Olive Garden. I just had the breadsticks with Alfredo sauce and the salad and for dessert the Black Tie Mousse Cake.

I was still too “wined” out from the day before, so I stuck with peach iced tea. Can’t believe I reached a point where I couldn’t drink anymore wine. So not like me. I made a quick stop at H&M and bought a super cute, flirty little cream colored skirt and some silver bangle bracelets. We had just left H&M (okay, Eric waited in the car!) when the skies darkened ominously and by the time we got home we were under severe storm warnings. I love that kind of weather!!

I LOVE H&M, but the sizing is so odd that I often have trouble finding the right size for me. They do have super cute clothes that I can afford on my budget!
