There Is Actually A Kind of Shopping I Don't Like!!

I am not a big fan of grocery shopping and I never have been. I distinctly remember when I was single I would go grocery shopping and only spend $17 a week. I bought things like potato salad, a box of cookies, a couple of yogurts and a frozen dinner or two, and I was good to go. I didn’t care about cooking then and I still don’t.

But now I am married and every Sunday we go grocery shopping at Kowalski’s in Woodbury (really pretty Italian architecture and they have a Juut Salon with Aveda products). Eric makes sure that we have all the staples like milk, butter and eggs which I never would have purchased in the past. He also makes sure that we spend $100 plus and have lots of food in the cupboards. He likes to cook and I don’t. He likes to eat meat and I don’t.

But he was in Seattle over the weekend, so on Sunday I decided to venture out to the grocery store on my own. I went to Byerly’s in Eagan and remembered again that I do not like to grocery shop and this is what I had in my cart: A container of cheesy hash browns from the deli, a trip to the salad bar, a slice of white cake with white frosting (it reminded me of wedding cake), a small container of vanilla Haagen Dazs, a birthday card and some Halloween cards. Grand total $18.49.

Afterwards I went to TJ Maxx and spent twice as much as I did on groceries. Normally that store is so disorganized and jumbled, that it makes me literally break out in hives but it is in the same shopping center, so I decided to check it out. I bought a Breakfast At Tiffany’s painting on pink canvas (the one where Audrey Hepburn has her cat draped over her shoulder; a really famous pose) and a box of Barbie high-fashion greeting cards that I think will work great for thank-you cards for all those birthday gifts I am going to get next week. Hint, hint, hint!!

sadly, I also enjoy grocery shopping- because I love to cook. I only really enjoy grocery shopping when it's at a gourmet market though- or at whole foods. LOL I could spend a mint in that store!

Thank God for Peapod, the online grocery store here in Chicago. I order my groceries online and they deliver them the next day and I NEVER have to set foot in a grocery store! Because I, too, HATE to grocery shop!
